Naujawan Bharat Sabha(Mumbai) organized a discussion session on the Union Budget 2025.

Recently, the Finance Minister presented the Budget in the Parliament. The presentation comes at a time when the country is facing serious economic stress. All figures—from employment generation to inflation—depict a very grim situation. While there were expectations from the Finance minister to acknowledge these pressing issues, Nirmala Sitharaman did what has become the norm for the Modi government: turning the budget declaration into yet another PR campaign. It is hence essential for the youth of the country to evaluate the details in such announcements, to understand what this government actually plans on doing. With this in mind, Naujawan Bharat Sabha organized a session on the Annual Budget 2025. After an overview of the budget cut and allocation to different schemes, a discussion was conducted. The very nature of the budget reveals the class character of the Fascist Modi Government. While corporates have been getting tax cuts and loan waivers, the issues of common citizens have been pushed aside. There is not a single mention of the word “employment” in the whole Budget, even as it became the most important issue in the General elections last year. Meanwhile, allocations for key schemes like MNREGA, as well as government spending on education and healthcare, continue to face sharp reductions. It was discussed that the present government, like its predecessors, serve the business class of the country and is dedicated to transferring the wealth from the working people to the top 1%. The discussion concluded with identifying key demands of the students and youth of this country including 1) a permanent employment guarantee scheme like BSNEGA( Bhagat Singh National Employment Guarantee Act) which would make employment a fundamental right 2) Progressive Tax on the richer sections and 3) Free and Equal education for all. Naujawan Bharat Sabha has been actively raising such demands on the ground and has been working on mobilizing the youth to create a mass movement to attain them.

It has now become ever more important for the students and youth of the country to not be fooled by the propaganda that the establishment has been pushing via its controlled media and to get organized to fight the neoliberal policies of the Modi Government.
Naujawan Bharat Sabha regularly organizes discussion sessions and runs Shaheed Bhagat Singh Library in Mankhurd.
