मानखुर्द, मुंबईतील शहीद भगतसिंह पुस्तकालयात नौभासच्या वतीने नागराज मंजुळेच्या ‘फँड्री’ या चित्रपटाचे स्क्रिनिंग आणि चर्चासत्र आयोजित करण्यात आली. अय्यंकाली यांच्या जन्मदिनी त्यांच्या स्मरणार्थ हा कार्यक्रम आयोजित करण्यात आला होता, ज्यांनी 19व्या शतकाच्या उत्तरार्धात केरळमध्ये जातीयवादी समाजाविरोधात लढा सुरू केला होता आणि राज्याच्या दडपशाही स्वरूपाला ओळखून जनतेच्या शक्तीवर विश्वास ठेवला होता. ‘फँड्री’ चित्रपट जब्याच्या अपूर्ण स्वप्नांचे दारुण वास्तव सांगताना समाजाच्या प्रत्येक स्तरांत रुजलेल्या क्रूर जातिव्यवस्थेचे चित्रण करतो. ग्रामीण महाराष्ट्रातील समाजाचे विस्तृत चित्रण करत हा चित्रपट भारतात हजारो वर्षांपासून रुजू असलेल्या जातीयवादी मानसिकतेला दर्शवतो.
कार्यक्रमाची सुरुवात अय्यंकाली यांच्या जीवनाविषयी, त्यांचा क्रांतिकारी वारसा आणि त्यांनी नेतृत्व दिलेल्या क्रांतिकारी जनआंदोलांबद्दलच्या चर्चेने झाली ज्यात कोणत्याही प्रकारच्या दडपशाहीविरोधात जनतेच्या संघटित ताकदीचे महत्व अधोरेखित करण्यात आले. चित्रपटाच्या स्क्रिनिंग नंतर चित्रपटावर चर्चा करण्यात आली. नौभास च्या शिक्षण सहायता केंद्राचे विद्यार्थी रितेश यांनी चित्रपटातील एका प्रभावी दृश्याचे वर्णन केले, ज्यात जब्या विकायला घेऊन जात असलेल्या आईस्क्रीमची पेटी आणि सायकल चिरडली
जाते. त्या दृश्यामुळे त्याच्या मनात उद्भवलेल्या खोल हृदयद्रावकतेचा आणि रागाचा उल्लेख केला. चर्चासत्रात इतर सहभागी सदस्यांनीही अशा सारख्या अनेक
दृश्यांवर चर्चा केली. अविनाश यांनी एका लहान मुलाचे स्वप्न, आकांक्षा आणि जातीव्यवस्थेच्या कठोर सामाजिक, आर्थिक वास्तव यांतील अंतर्विरोध मांडत सांगितले की कशाप्रकारे ही शोषक, अमानवीय व्यवस्था जब्या समोर नित्य नवी आव्हानं उभी करते आणि जब्याला त्याविरोधात कसा संघर्ष करावा लागतो.
मुंबईतील विविध भागांतील, विशेषतः साठे नगरातील स्थानिक रहिवासी या कार्यक्रमात उपस्थित होते. चर्चेची सांगता समाजातील जातीप्रथेसारख्या सर्व प्रकारच्या दडपशाहीला, शोषणाच्या रूपांना दूर करण्याची गरज आणि जातीअंतासाठी एका लढाऊ जातिविरोधी आंदोलनाची आवश्यकता यावरच्या एकमताने झाली.
नौजवान भारत सभा मानखुर्द-गोवंडीतील विद्यार्थ्यांना आणि युवकांना एका समतामूलक समाजाच्या जडणघडणीसाठी सक्रियपणे एकजूट करण्याचे काम करत आहे.
Film Screening and Discussion Event by Naujawan Bharat Sabha on the occasion of the birth anniversary of the great anti-caste warrior, Ayyankali!
A screening and discussion on Nagraj Manjule’s ‘Fandry’ was held by Naujawan Bharat Sabha at its Shaheed Bhagat Singh Library in Mankhurd, Mumbai. The event was held in commemoration of the birth anniversary of Ayyankali, who led a valiant struggle against casteism in late nineteenth century Kerala, by recognizing the state’s oppressive character and relying on the power of the people to crush it. In Fandry, the heart-wrenching impossibility of Jabya’s dreams, exposes the brutality within social hierarchies. Through an enlarged view of the social dynamics of rural Maharashtra, the film highlights the casteist mentality that is woven into the fabric of this country, to this day.
The event started with a discussion on Ayyankali’s life, his revolutionary legacy, and the radical mass movements led by him. The necessity of the organized oppressed in fighting oppression of any kind was stressed upon. After the screening, a discussion session on the film was held. Ritesh, a student of Naujawan Bharat Sabha’s Shiksha Sahayta Kendra, described a powerful scene in the film where Jabya’s ice-creams and cycle are crushed. He spoke of the deep heart-break and anger that it induces. The session had other participants discussing similar scenes such as this. Avinash outlined how the movie depicts the clash between the dreams and aspirations of a child with the harsh socio-economic realities of the caste system and how he struggles with barriers placed in front of him by this inhumane system of oppression. People from around Mumbai, including local residents of Sathe Nagar attended the event. The discussion ended with an agreement on the need to rid the society of all forms of oppression, including caste, and the necessity of a militant anti-caste movement for the same.
Naujawan Bharat Sabha has been actively working to mobilize the students and youth of Mankhurd-Govandi in its fight for an egalitarian society.
